When does it make sense to combine removable and fixed dentures?
A combination of fixed and removable dentures is particularly useful if natural teeth with stable roots are still present, which can provide a firm hold for the dentures. The remaining natural teeth are carefully ground down and covered with special, ceramic-veneered crowns to which attachments are attached. These attachments hold the removable part of the denture, the so-called attachment prosthesis, firmly in place in the mouth. The connection between the fixed and removable parts of the denture can also be made using bars or latches.

Removable dentures with fixed anchorage
The removable part of the denture consists of a prosthesis that replaces the function of the natural tooth crowns. In order to ensure lifelike aesthetics, it is usually veneered with tooth-colored veneers and is not recognizable as an artificial denture.
Advantages of combined denture treatment
Treatment with a combination of removable and fixed dentures offers many advantages for you as a patient. You benefit from lifelike esthetics and function without the need for dental implants. This also reduces the price of the restoration. As the removable part is firmly anchored in the mouth, you do not suffer from the familiar "foreign body sensation" that often occurs with conventional dentures. The attachment prostheses are characterized by the fact that the palatal parts in the upper jaw and the parts under the tongue can be made smaller. Nevertheless, the combined solutions impress with their perfect and secure hold and give you the feeling of fixed teeth.
