Dentures -
What options are there?
Dentures are various solutions for replacing missing teeth and are divided into fixed and removable dentures. Fixed dentures are dental crowns and bridges, removable dentures are dentures and telescopic prostheses. Nowadays, dentures are often attached to dental implants: Artificial tooth roots that are inserted into the jaw and fuse firmly with the bone. Implants give the wearer back the feeling of fixed teeth and also prevent bone loss through the continuous stimulation of the jawbone.

Why dentures?
The most important functions of teeth are to grasp and grind food, but they also play a key role in facial aesthetics and pronunciation. Tooth loss results in gaps between teeth, which can lead to incorrect loading of the remaining teeth. In addition, the periodontium, temporomandibular joints and chewing muscles can be permanently damaged. Bone loss can also be the result, which can cause other teeth to loosen and eventually fall out. To prevent these negative consequences, it is advisable to insert a dental prosthesis into the gap soon after tooth loss.
Dental technology process: cooperation with the laboratory
When developing your dentures, we work closely with our trusted dental technician. We refer to the first step as "preliminary planning": individual planning models are produced, on which a so-called mock-up is then created. A mock-up is a visualization of the target result made of white plastic that can be slid onto the teeth. The patient can take this temporary restoration home and test its aesthetics, comfort and unrestricted ability to speak at their leisure. In a second step, clinical photos of your individual oral situation are taken and evaluated, in some cases followed by a preliminary discussion with the master dental technician. Once the planning has been completed, the dentist begins preparing the teeth, accompanied by several intermediate try-ins to achieve an optimal result. At the end, the rough version of the denture is finally tried in. If you are satisfied with the result and the fit is as desired, the dental technician customizes the colour of the dentures in his laboratory. Finally, if the aesthetics of the dentures fully meet your expectations, the dentures are fitted in our practice (if necessary, provisionally for testing).
